The Unit

The Unit is a free, open-access creative space funded by Channel 4, Bradford Council, and supported by Screen Yorkshire.

Based in Bradford for filmmakers and creatives of all levels. It offers weekly workshops, industry-standard equipment hire, post-production facilities, and a hot-desking space. As co-hosts of Stockroom Cinema, The Unit showcases local talent through screenings as well as The Five Minute Film Club.

"I was a little nervous about going to my first event at the unit, but as soon as I arrived that feeling vanished. It’s such a warm and welcoming environment where it’s clear that anybody and everybody is welcome to show up as their authentic self.

Most of the industry feels like smoke and mirrors. Which is why the events at the Unit are so important. Having it demystified by someone who grew up just like me, made me feel like I could find a home in the industry after all."
